The AGT gene encodes angiotensin (also known as angiotensinogen), and SNPs in AGT have been implicated in risk for hypertension and related disorders, such as heart disease and pre-eclampsia. Many polymorphisms in the AGT gene are known, though only a few are known to have medical consequences.
