rs3008052(T), the minor allele for this SNP located in the PDE10A gene on chromosome 6, has been reported to be associated with increased thyroxine [T4] levels and larger spleen size in the indigenous Bajau people (“Sea Nomads”) of Southeast Asia, who live a subsistence lifestyle based on breath-hold diving and are renowned for their extraordinary breath-holding abilities. The association is statistically significant but not deterministic.[PMID 29677510]
