Grey Genetics
Grey Genetics is a telehealth genetic counseling and consulting company. All genetic counseling services are provided by certified genetic counselors and done through videoconferencing or by phone. Areas of focus include cancer genetics, cardiovascular genetics, family planning, and direct-to-consumer testing.
Free 10-minute consultations are available for all Promethease users and can either be scheduled directly through the Grey Genetics website.

Raw Data Report + Family History Review! Did you upload your “raw data” to a third-party service such as Promethease? Are you concerned or do you have questions about 1-2 variants in your report? Are you wondering it this is “real”? Are you wondering if you should consider follow-up clinical genetic testing? Are you looking for a lower cost option as a starting place rather meeting with a certified genetic counselor right now? This service is for you!
We also offer a Family History Review & DNA Test + Family History Review! When you purchase a Family History Review, or an At-Home DNA Test + Family History Review, a certified genetic counselor will look at your family history and/or test results and provide you with a personalized review.
All you have to do is fill out a family history form and upload your DNA test report and click send. It’s that easy. These services are not a substitute for genetic counseling, nor intended as such. These are simple services where you can get your questions answered by an expert who can provide you with insights regarding your genetics questions, test report, family history, and give you some actionable next steps!
Genetic Counseling Types for Promethease Users:
A conversation around your genetics-related concerns and interests. This can be a great option if you have some questions but are not ready to book a full consult. Does not include full review of personal and family health history, personalized risk assessment, or consult note. Up to 30 minutes. If a full genetics consult is subsequently scheduled, this fee will be applied toward the cost of that service. Common topics include family planning and genetic testing options; cancer family history; the value of various genetic testing options, including analytical and interpretive differences and direct-to-consumer testing options (ex. 23andMe).
Genetics Consult & Review of Direct-to-Consumer Test Results – $275
Includes family history intake, risk assessment, review of DTC (Direct-To-Consumer) genetic test results, select “raw data” filtered through a third party service, and discussion of the limitations of DTC test results. Each consult will have a pre-determined area of focus depending on the specifics of your test results and your major interests and concerns. Up to 1 hour. Results should be sent to Grey Genetics a week in advance of consult date. Consult note summarizing personal and family history and discussion sent by encrypted email within 2 days after appointment. There are significant limitations to many DTC tests and to the accuracy and usability of “raw data.” $50 discount applied if third party service used was Promethease. Use code “Promethease” when scheduling.
Grey Genetics does not take insurance. A credit card is required to confirm a requested appointment time. A receipt for genetic counseling services can be provided upon request for submission to insurer for possible reimbursement.
Grey Genetics is able to consult with patients who are located in the following states: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, KS, LA, ME, MD, MI, MS, MO, MT, NC, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, VT, WV, WI, WY. Grey Genetics can also consult with patients located outside the United States. Consults are available in English, French and Spanish.
