Most likely, the file you were attempting to use is the "ethnic composition/ancestry" data; it is not your actual DNA data, which is what is needed for a Promethease report.
23andMe users need to obtain their actual DNA raw data from 23andMe at this URL:

It will generate a filename similar to this
genome_Jon_Smith__Full_20120731154858.zip
