A study of ~1,000 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus found that in both populations (Caucasian and African-American) studied, the rs3093061(G;G) genotype had a significantly reduced risk compared to the more common (A;A) genotype. In African-Americans, the odds ratio was 0.49 (CI: 0.37-0.65, p=6.4x10e-7), and in Caucasians, the odds ratio was 0.37 (CI: 0.24-0.56, p=2.3x10e-6).
