Two case-control studies including colorectal cancer patients and controls were conducted; the first case involving 441 patients and 658 controls, all of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry, and the second including 199 patients and 199 matched (sex, age and ethnicity) controls.
rs266729(G) showed decreased colorectal cancer risk in both studies; in the first, with an odds ratio of 0.72 (CI:0.55-0.95) and in the second, with an odds ratio of 0.52 (CI: 0.34-0.78). Combining the two studies led to an overall decreased colorectal cancer odds ratio of 0.73 (CI: 0.53-0.99) for this allele.[1]
