rs1983132 is a SNP in the NEIL3 gene on ch 4, which encodes a glycosylase that can initiate base excision repair.

A study of pesticide use and SNPs in ~800 prostate cancer cases revealed a significant association between men with either a rs1983132(C;T) or (T;T) genotype exposed to the pesticide fonofos and disease risk. The odds ratios and for low and high pesticide use versus no use were 1.65 (CI:0.91-3.01) and 3.25 (CI:1.78-5.92), respectively, whereas fonofos was not associated with prostate cancer risk among men with a rs1983132(C;C) genotype.[PMID 21810555OA-icon.png]
