Alone this snp is associated with a 2x-3x increased risk of developing late-onset Alzheimer's disease. However [PMID 17192785] suggests that this snp serves as a proxy for ApoE4 which has a much larger risk increase. Since feedback from Promethease users suggests that it may not be such a an accurate proxy, you may wish specifically verify your APOE by checking rs429358 and rs7412. 23andMe only tests one of these, while deCODEme now tests both.
