[PMID 18281018] schizophrenia
  • 375 case and 812 control subjects
  • rs10399805 p = .018 and rs2275351; p = .008.

[PMID 18767121] An attempt to repeat the association between rs10399805 and risk for schizophrenia in an ethnically identical population (Japanese) as well as a new population (Han Chinese) failed to show any significant association.

[PMID 19106306] rs10399805(T;T) genotype showed a 2.5-fold increase in CHI3L1 mRNA expression in peripheral blood cells than those with (C;C) which is associated with the risk of atopy.

Name
AnnotationIn a sample of 375 case and 812 control subjects a significant association of schizophrenia with this SNP (rs10399805) in the promoter region of CHI3L1 was identified. The variant is located at position -247 and disrupts the C/EBP-AML-1 binding site in the gene promoter. The risk allele is predicted to increase CHI3L1 expression.
